“Look Into My Eyes” Film Premier!

On Friday night, August 16, I had the thrill of a lifetime. I attended the NYC premier of Look Into My Eyes, a feature length A24 documentary film by filmmaker, Lana Wilson (Miss Americana, Pretty Baby). For those of you who may not know, I am one of the seven psychics featured in this beautiful, sensitive, relatable and sometimes funny film. (see more photos below)
The event was held outdoors at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. What an amazing place! If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend a visit. The weather was perfect, a clear golden moon hung high in the sky as 300 people watched the documentary.
The evening started out with lots of pics during (what I’ve learned is called) a step and repeat. You see it all the time when actors are standing in front of a big background getting their pics taking before the premier.
It was only the second time I’d seen the film (first time at the private screening room at the offices of A24). It is a challenging experience to see yourself on a big screen with hundreds of people watching. I’ve been told that some actors never watch their own films. I get it!
I really had fun creating my wardrobe for this event. It was Lana who inspired me on a phone call we had in the spring. When I asked her if she’d be wearing an evening gown to the premiere she said, “I’m thinking of going punk.” I loved that idea! My imagination ended up leading me in a slightly different direction which included a trip through my costume box and other adventures. I discovered a fabulous black tulle shawl with bats flapping around on it. I added lots of rhinestones, a silver mesh dress, some hand jewelry and I was good to go!
It was so interesting to hear the audience reactions throughout the film, which was followed with a Q&A with Lana Wilson, Kyle Martin (producer) and five of the psychics from the film including myself. How exciting to get to speak to the audience about my experience and vision for the film!
